Offsite Rug Cleaning: Although we only use a fraction of the water compared to many steam cleaning companies, we always prefer to remove most rugs from the home and not clean them on your floors. By removing the rug from your home, we’re able to get the best possible deep clean without risking damage to your hardwood floor. Huntsville Chem-Dry has a complete oriental area rug cleaning facility where we are able to carefully clean your rug, returning it to you in pristine condition.

Cleaning, Immersion, and Rinsing: Our rug professionals will test your rug for colorfastness before proceeding with any immersion cleaning. This helps to provide information regarding the state of your rug. They will also determine which cleaning method will be most beneficial for your rug. Our cleaning is determined based on each rug and what method will be the safest and most effective for it. We use safe, non-toxic cleaners on your rugs, just as we do in your homes. We will be cleaning your rug several times until the rug is completely clean.

The spa treatment continues as your rug is placed in our unique washtub for a swim. The wash tub uses a special velocity-appropriate star paddle to provide gentle agitation that mimics age-old hand-washing techniques. As your rug rotates in the churning water, soils are removed and the appearance of your rug is renewed without the use of brushes, power spraying, scrubbing, or other mechanical agitation that can damage rug fibers.

Special cleaning agents are added to aid in the cleaning process and to ensure that colors are restored to their very best appearance.

Pet Odor Removal: Our rug cleaning process is perfect for the total removal of pet odors caused by pet urine, as well as animal hair and body oils. Huntsville Chem-Dry applies a special product to affected areas called P.U.R.T. This unique treatment breaks down the pet oils and the urine crystals to help destroy the odor-causing dust that feed on them, effectively neutralizing any smells. Our total immersion cleaning process then flushes these contaminants from the rug for complete odor removal.

Pricing: Due to a wide variety of different construction materials and styles of oriental and area rugs, determining a price for the cleaning can vary widely. Most rugs have a tag in one of the corners that will indicate the size and material. This can be helpful information when asking for a cleaning price quote.

Washing Rugs: If your rug is small and the label says “machine washable”, shake the rug outside first and then put it in the washing machine at the recommended temperature. Use warm water (90 to 105 degrees) and a mild detergent. Tumble your rug dry at the lowest heat setting.

Beating Larger Rugs: If your larger rug is easy to pick up, shake it outside first; then put it over a clothesline and beat it like your grandmother taught you. Next, take the rug inside and vacuum it. If the label says dry clean only, then roll it up and take it to a professional rug cleaner. Save time and aggravation by calling first to see if the cleaner does rug cleaning, many do not. Trust your rugs of all types with Huntsville Chem-Dry who have been trained as an Area Rug Expert for off-site cleaning.

Vacuuming Area Rugs: Area rugs with fringe require a special technique. Use gentle suction and start from the center of the carpet, vacuuming toward the fringe and being careful not to catch the strands in the beater bar. Lift the carpet edge to vacuum beneath the fringe.

Caring for Oriental, Turkish or Persian Rugs: Clean imported rugs according to your carpet manufacturer’s specifications or bring in a professional cleaning service. Be gentle with fringe. For heirloom-type rugs, you need professionals. Call Huntsville Chem-Dry to schedule a time for us to pick-up and deliver your area rug and have us take care of your valued treasures.
